Sometimes, you can see people teetering on the edge of making the decision to buy or use your services. They’re just taking a bit of time to make that final decision. Here’s a good letter you can send to prod them into action. I wrote it for a firm of financial planners just prior to the end of the tax year, but you can easily use it as a model for a letter that you can adapt and adopt for your business.

Dear John,

Did you hear about the one that got away?

Isn’t it true? We often hear about the one that got away. The stable door that got shut after the horse had bolted. Opportunity is just like that. Regrettably, we all too often hear about something far too late to act on it.

Don’t we hear ourselves saying, “If only I’d known?” So just in case you haven’t had time to make a decision, this letter is just to say that the horse hasn’t bolted or the door hasn’t been slammed shut yet.  There is still time for you to act to turn the tax you pay to money in your pocket – simple proven ideas that will give you a great tax break right now if you act soon, prior to the end of the month.

Obviously we are pretty busy helping hundreds of our clients, old and new, take advantage of these great opportunities. However we’re never too busy to show you how they can work for you, too. If you’d like to make sure you don’t miss the bus, why not give me a call as soon as possible?

Yours sincerely

P.S. The best time to ring me is last thing in the day when I’ve got time to chat and really explain how things work for you.

Obviously, this letter was written for a specific purpose – but what I want you to do is to consider all those clients or customers you’ve got that are thinking about doing things. What can you do to encourage them to take that final step?  I’ve used the ‘ticking clock’ in mine – ‘it’s tax time, act now before it’s too late.’

How can you give people a good reason to ‘act now’? Your customers are quite likely to want to do it. All they need is a letter from you giving them a reason.
