2. Training

I have often commented that the best investment most businesses could make in profitability would be frequent, comprehensive training. Regrettably, too often the training is left to the boss who has a heck of a lot on their plate and not necessarily much competency so that the quality of training, or more pointedly, the result of the training is never what it should be. Training from product suppliers is generally product training not skills training and many external trainers are academics in disguise in that they know the theory but have never done it in practice.
