So how do you go about getting a testimonial?

Simple! You ask people (and if no one is prepared to give you a testimonial when you ask perhaps you should be looking at a change in business!)

Most times, if you’ve done a great job, your past customers will be happy to provide one. Generally they have one question. “What do you want me to say?”

This is where you must forget the humility your mother has beaten into you. Humility is for the competition not you. So you respond “I’ll drop you a line or e-mail you an idea of what you might say.”

And you suggest to them what to say and guess what… they say it.
