For the last few years I’ve been reminding you around now this time every year that my speaking mate, Max Hitchins, pursues his longstanding hobby of endeavouring to predict the winner of the Melbourne Cup, the world’s most famous horse race. His success rate is phenomenal and I always include his tips in my cup day flutters. So I reckon its worth investing 10 bucks to get his tips for the big day.
Rather than me tell you about it, here’s what he has to say…
“Once a year I focus on the strange (some would say whacky) Australian phenomenon called The Melbourne Cup. it is a horse race that stops a nation. Yes… the entire nation stops to watch a horse race. Can you believe that? And I admit to being just as whacky as every other Australian about this race that was first run in 1861.
So much so, I memorised the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placegetters for the last 100 years. So much so, I created a web site focusing on The Melbourne Cup… so much so, I write an annual eBook about it and sell it on the web site. So much so, I do a daily Countdown to the Cup video series.
If you are an Australian, it is almost mandatory for you to look at the above sites! If you are not an Australian, they are still worth a look. For you will note I am using green screen video as a marketing tool to tell the Melbourne Cup story. Until recently a video like this would cost thousands of dollars to shoot, edit and promote. Now I shoot them on my iPhone. Edit them on my Apple Computer. Post them on YouTube. It is the marketing tool of the future!
