Now if you are worried about me discussing toilets stop reading here.
However, having gently raised and discussed the delicate matter with friends and been amazed by their almost unanimous responses I feel compelled to proceed. It’ll be interesting to know whether you share the same thoughts.
It all came about after my recent visit to that far flung American state of Hawaii. Only when you go to the bathroom are you reminded of the following:
1. No matter how many times you have sat upon an American toilet on previous occasions on your first visit of the next trip you will have forgotten how high the water level is. You shudder to think in what your hand has been dipped.
2. Whether you want to or not, because of the shallow bowl you will be compelled to inspect the results of your visit, will be reassured about your intestinal health and be compelled to watch the contents swirl and disappear.
Perhaps we Aussies need to change our toilets bowls so that visiting an American bathroom doesn’t provide the same unique experience.
Now its an interesting observation. Having just been there myself I was havign the same thoughts at the time…. interesting that others have also…
Thanks Gary, its good to know I have company!
They are scary, but nowhere as much as a busy squat toilet in Asia. Good for balance, movements, and making vows to lose that stomach mass and strengthen leg muscles.
You’re right Darren. The squat may be natural but its difficult for those that haven’t done it for years!
