Now, in my previous articles on this subject I’ve shown you how to use a headline to attract attention which, after all, is the sole purpose of the headline.  Done right it works marvellously well doesn’t it?  Okay would you like another boilerplate headline?  It is based on this format

“Joe Smith swears under oath that whatever he is doing

is not a rip off, stolen or illegal!”

Let me give you an example

“Local manufacturer swears under oath that the widgets he is selling

at such fantastic prices have not been stolen”

If you were in the market for widgets wouldn’t you feel compelled to read the rest of the advert?  Of course you would.  Even if you weren’t thinking of buying widgets you’d probably be curious enough to read it.  Would it flag people down and get their attention?  Sure would!

So try creating a few headlines or subject line base on that boiler plate then use the best and see how it works.  Remember, however, you have to tell the story of the headline and that requires remembering the other components of the mnemonic AIDA… after getting their attention (with the headline) the story you tell must stimulate their interest, create desire and incite them to action.
