Recently it was reported that the Channel 9 network had declined to run this Greenpeace commercial because they believed it was “offensive”. I’m not sure who they felt it offended… viewers or Coca Cola but I suspect it was the latter.
In my opinion it was just a wake up call to people who litter and wouldn’t have harmed sales of Coke in the least. What you do think?
It’s not offensive but extremely confronting! As you say, a real wake-up call. But they should have used generic bottle label without targeting Coca Cola as they aren’t the only offenders. It would still have had the same impact and may not have been pulled from TV viewing.
That’s probably a better approach Liga but they have grabbed thousand of dollars of free publicity anyway.
I think Coca Cola are a bit worried after they took the Northern Territory government to caught to stop a recycling scheme as Coca Cola stated that it was harming their business. What nonsense. Since then, Coca Cola have been pelted with negative feedback – even to the point where people are now putting Out of Order signs on their vending machines because of it. I think Coca Cola have good reason to be worried – from a business point of view.
Yeah, although the massive clout of coke does mean that they can impact people’s views. And, loving a Diet Coke myslef, I know now addictive they are so I’ll probably still buy them. I have feet of clay!
