Apropos Sharnie’s passing

It was reassuring to see that others feel the same way about the passing of their dog as I did recently when Sharnie went. In this poignant article in the Sunday Age yesterday tough newspaper man, Bruce Guthrie, shows his tender side.     Hi Winno, so sorry to here about Sharnie’s passing – I have enjoyed your story-telling around the dogs over the years. Our Diggity and Delhi dogs will be sending Sharnie their love in spirit.

    Very sorry to hear about Sharnie’s passing. Bruce Guthrie’s article was a heartfelt tribute to a friend. I squirm when I hear pets described as “my children”. I’ve never seen them as a replacement for a human relationship. It’s a mysterious bond that I can never really explain. One day Researchers and Scientists will “discover” what most of us already know – our pets are family, friend and mate. The relationship is like no other but just as important as the ones we have with the two legged beasts in our lives.

    Sorry to hear about Sharnie. There’ll be a big empty space in your household at the moment. Great article by Bruce Guthrie and something we see coming to bear every week (sadly). Loved his comment that we all keep our pets ‘buried in our hearts’ – very true and a happy thought.
