The other day I was pondering whether I should go for a run in the pouring rain. Really, it’s great running in the rain. The hardest bit is taking the first step outside and letting the cold rain hit your warm body. Once you get going running in the rain is actually quite enjoyable.
Still, as I pondered the situation, torn between warmth and wet, the rain continued to pour down. In fact you could say that it was raining cats and dogs!
Raining dogs was quite appropriate because Millie, my gorgeous groodle, was standing behind me, urging me to just go. “Aw, come on,” said Millie “Let’s go!” So off we went. And I’m glad I did because I was in for another bit of life’s wonderful continuing education.
You see Millie ran through every puddle she could find. And, in doing so, she was having so much fun.
So, I thought, if she’s enjoying it so will I. And I ran through every puddle too. In fact we raced each other to the next puddle.
And I loved it! It was wonderful! And I’m not kidding.
I came back elated. Happy as a sandboy, a rather wet sandboy, but nonetheless happy. And my happiness continued… the rest of my day was even more fantastic than usual, and that’s saying something!
Gee, occasionally it’s great to think like a kid again and act like a kid again. Why not try it and get the benefits? Find some puddles and run through them.
Winno I’m with you when you say think like a kid and act like one again. When people take part in a laughter session in the rain they in fact get a double whammy; a great feeling of happiness and the exhileration of letting the inner child out and into the grown up world. When it is in a work environment people report a raised level of energy and increased entusiasm for the tasks ahead of them. Live Life Laughing! Phillipa
Now I know why I felt so good! Thanks Phillipa!
