In all the frenzy of gift giving and good wishes at Christmas sometimes it’s good to stop and reflect on what gift we could be giving to others.
This came home to me when I met David Apparicio who is doing so much to help prisoners that, if governments around the world adopted his concepts, it could do a huge amount to reduce the prison population by ensuring that young offenders don’t become recidivists and return to prison.
David was a senior executive at Royal Mail in the UK and took on the voluntary role of a magistrate at a local court. As a result he noticed something… I’ll let him tell the story.
But when you have listened to the interview ask yourself how you could do something to help promote his unique program which would benefit our whole community. You see governments and Prison Ministers aren’t really interested in reducing the prison population. They are more interested in telling the general public of the need for new prisons because of their great action on crime.
So here’s something for to you to ponder over Christmas. What can you do to help promote what David is doing so that we help people less fortunate than us to get a taste of the good life we enjoy. Surely a great Christmas reflection?
