A system is “the way we do things around here”. It’s the way your team faultlessly and flawlessly goes around doing something time-after-time to achieve the perfect result every time! And it happens that way because, as my good friend Doug Malouf used to say, it’s practised, rehearsed and drilled until everyone gets it exactly right.
Here’s Ferrari F1 pit stop perfection and I’ll bet you have to watch this a number of times to convince yourself that they actually do change the tyres. They do it exactly right every time. But then so do McDonalds with their “Would you like French fries with that?”
So, how are the systems working in your business? Ferrari like or failing?
Can be daunting looking at an entire business. Where to start? So you just don’t do it. Better to think of the best way to eat that elephant. One system at a time and you’re up and flying.
Best place to start is with the single most important thing you want fix first. That’s why many peole dont get their systems up and going… coz they try top fix everything at once!
