thegoodstoreNow here is an advert that I reckon would have worked its butt off… and it would need to have coz, as I recall, it was a full page in The Age which doesn’t come cheap these days. So why do I reckon it was effective?

1. Great visuals… they caught my attention.

2. Good descriptive copy that sold the product.

3. Lots of variety, there had to be something there for everyone.

4. Great use of white space to make it look good without wasting expensive space.

5. Very effective use of colour.

In summary, despite the absence of a great headline, the whole advert worked to get my attention, was easy to look at, interesting to read and made me buy. And isn’t that the most the important criteria?

Oh, and by the way of course, the new customers they generate out of this advert will go into their database and, if they stay in touch with them regularly, will become customers for life.
