Sometime ago I wrote about the urge some people have of displaying explanatory or warning signs for situations where they are not really necessary. I think what happens is that the creators of such signs either just have lots of time on their hands or love printing stuff on their computers. As a result they hunt down opportunities to create them.
Here’s another case in point.
When unnecessary signs are displayed they make your place look untidy and suggest that your client, customers or patients are idiots. So, always ask yourself is that sign really necessary? If it isn’t, don’t make it. If it is, what is the best possible way to communicate the information so that it effectively registers with the reader and is appropriate to the surroundings?
