My mate Terry Brock gave some great advice in an article he wrote entitled “What every salesperson must stop doing in order to succeed”. He suggested to stop thinking about yourself and your products and think about others. He said…
“The solution for success in life is really caring about other people. The old saying puts it best that, “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.”
So just in case you’re having one of “those” days, try this little experiment right now: Find three people that you can help today. It might be walking over to a colleague and asking how they’re doing and sincerely listening. It might be picking up the phone and calling someone (remember that old technique of calling people on the telephone? It still works today!)
You might also want to just send a kind supportive message to some key people via email, social media or a quick Skype video. Try it and I’ll bet you, from one sales person to another, that it makes your day better.”
The “how’s things?” call is one of those techniques every businessperson should use. It works beautifully for anybody who is serious about making their business successful. In fact, if you’re not using it you should be. Want to learn more? Buy Winston’s downloadable discussion on the “How’s Things?” call here. “Part of the Winno’s Wise Words series”.
