The more things change, the more they stay the same!
Here we are just about 10 years on and we have another puppy going to puppy school so that we can be reminded of what we must do to ensure that our puppy grows into a good obedient dog. Ten years ago it was Millie, this time it’s Pollyanna. (In this picture of the recently groomed dogs Millie is the purple coiffed dog on the right with Pollyanna on the left).
And each time we go to puppy school we are reminded that it’s really all about teaching us to be good dog owners so that we know how to get our dog to do the right things. In other words training the owner rather than the dog.
When I did this training with Millie I was struck by how relevant what I learned was to getting the best out of a team. I’ve been reminded again with Pollyanna.
So I went back into my archives to dig out this interview with our dog trainer when he helped with Millie. (By the way he’s trained Pollyanna too).
PS– And I’m proud to report that Pollyanna was a dux of her class as the certificate proves!
The “how’s things?” call is one of those techniques every businessperson should use. It works beautifully for anybody who is serious about making their business successful. In fact, if you’re not using it you should be. Want to learn more? Buy Winston’s downloadable discussion on the “How’s Things?” call here. “Part of the Winno’s Wise Words series”.
