If you’ve been to one of my seminars I have probably extolled the virtues of direct mail. In these days of literally hundreds of emails thudding into your inbox it’s nice to get a snail mail envelope occasionally.
And you can really excite interest in the letter if you follow five simple steps to excite curiosity. Curiosity works because, after all, it is compelling.
So, (1) use a plain envelope, (2) handwrite the address, (3) use stamps on the envelope, (4) have a bulge in the envelope (providing it does not exude white powder or tick), and (5) mail it from somewhere interesting or unexpected.
You’ll see how well it works in this photo of a snail mail envelope I received recently.
And the sender has obviously reckoned that, if one stamp works, then lots must really work!
Oh, and by the way, the envelope was postmarked Glenrowan, the scene of Ned Kelly’s last stand. Do you reckon that really excited my curiosity?
Of course it did!
