For years I have been espousing the idea of enclosing a bar of soap in a letter when you want to get the attention of someone you don’t know. And boy, oh boy, it’s great when you get an email like this from someone like Steve Procter who tells you that it works!
Hi Winston: Now we have a marketing problem (that can’t be solved with soap!) My wife and I heard you speak many years ago in Crows Nest, Sydney if I recall correctly. You mentioned the idea of the soap in envelopes. A few months later we started a business making church pulpits www.procson.com
We used your idea to mail out to churches and as you can imagine it worked great! Over the years we have given out over 10,000 bars of soap at trade shows/ conferences in Australia, the USA and the UK.
What an imaginative use of the soap idea; I was really chuffed as you can guess.
So it was great to respond…
G’day Steve and it was a real pleasure to talk to someone who not only remembers me but also actually went away and tried some of the ideas I espouse. It really gives me a great kick when I hear that I have helped someone so it was fantastic that you told me. So many people listen but don’t do! As for helping you now it’s a real pleasure and delight… I enjoy doing so!
So, whilst this may be a little bit of a self congratulatory article, I have a question for you. Is there someone you want to get to know where maybe you could use an approach like the soap letter? If you’d like a copy of a typical soap letter just email Felicity miracles@winstonmarsh.com.au
