I just love the way that the advent of mobile phone messaging has allowed people you never hear from to suddenly contact you at their whim.
Over the last few years we’ve bought several cars from this car dealer and had them serviced there too. We’ve never had a phone call, a letter or any other form of contact from them. That is other than an occasional bland, mass produced contact from the car manufacturer.
Then, out of the blue, I get this very impersonal SMS.

Amazingly, they seem to think that one swallow does indeed a summer make; that one contact will make me itch to do business with them!
In all the time we’ve known them that’s their only contact… no how’s things calls, no invites to new car releases, no happy car anniversary letters. Nothing!
We’ve long since gone somewhere else!
The lesson? Simple! To really build relationships, stay in contact with your clients, customers, patients or patrons somewhere between 6 and 12 times a year.
And remember, if you don’t someone else will!
