Let me explain.

Yesterday I catered for my bike riding mates with a super colossal, out of the box barbecue. The idea is that they go out riding for a couple of hours and when they return I have a super special barbecue of various delights to assuage their large and healthy appetites.

Because they tend to come back in dribs and drabs I wanted to give them something before the main course as an appetiser. That way when they really got down to the serious eating business they could do it together.

So I decided to do a real genuine German bratwurst sausage on a roll. And the only accompaniment for that is a good mild Germanic type mustard although in this case I decided to use a Dijon mustard because I knew it would not affect anybody’s taste buds negatively.

The “how’s things?” call is one of those techniques every businessperson should use.
It works beautifully for anybody who is serious about making their business successful.
In fact, if you’re not using it you should be.

And I was amazed at how many people shrieked as I handed them the beautiful roll “Oh, I don’t like mustard please don’t give me that!”

My response was “It’s what the caterer is giving you, it’s that or nothing!”

So they took it and ate it.

The beaut part was that I was delighted by how many of the shriekers came back and said “I didn’t think I’d like that but it was delicious!”

It’s amazing isn’t it how many people make a decision about something before they even try it or give it a go.

The moral of the lesson today is that you should never make a decision or a judgement about anything you’ve never done or tried before… until at least you have given it a go.

You’ll be amazed at how often you find a new experience to be an agreeable experience.
