If you know me and my commitment to great eating habits you’d be amazed to learn that I have been known to enter the doors of that fast food establishment known as Maccas!

So let me confess… I have!

But not to furtively sin on those burgers. Oh no, only to order a decaf cappuccino (and occasionally a healthy toasted cheese’n tomato on wholemeal) when my bike riding mates want to have a break.

Okay! As I’m confessing I should add that, sometimes, I also go through the drive in… for the same comestibles.

And that’s where the story really starts.

The “how’s things?” call is one of those techniques every businessperson should use.
It works beautifully for anybody who is serious about making their business successful.
In fact, if you’re not using it you should be.

Recently, in pursuit of my coffee fix, I got to the intercom where a pleasant young lady asked for my order.

“Thank you,” I said, “A large decaf cappuccino please.”

And this is what she said that absolutely, positively surprised me.

“Perfect!” she said.

What a fantastic response… it made me feel good about my order and my world. All was perfect!

She could have responded with any of the dull, boring, mechanical stuff counter people usually say like “okay” or just repeated the order but she gave me a “perfect!”

So what do you and your team members say with sincerity and enthusiasm when they respond to a client, customer or patient to make their day?

Try “great”, “terrific”, “marvellous” or even steal my “f-a-n-t-a-s-t-i-c!

You’ll find that it’s perfect!
