Innovation and disruption are similar in that they are both makers and builders. Disruption takes a left turn by literally uprooting and changing how we think, behave, do business, learn and go about our day-to-day.
Well, with that in mind I’ve been trying to work out what’s been happening at a local donut store, Daniels, a couple of kilometres from my place.
At the end of a day Daniels sell donuts pretty much like you can buy at other donut places. They sure have a wide range of fillings and toppings and they do bake them 24/7 and they are pretty yummy.
But is that the reason for the 100-metre-long lines of people standing outside the shop, patiently waiting for the chance to buy their choice of these kilojoule loaded bombs?
I don’t think so! But I don’t know what is. Maybe the people standing in line does it… a line of people attracts attention, so people investigate and think they’d better get in the line and try the donuts.
I’ve gone off carb loading and sugar but would still prefer the simple unbeatable hot jam donut from the van any time in the dregs of winter in Melbourne.
My sentiments entirely Sharon! The ones at Daniels are great but the van’s jam filled ones are even better!
