There I was at the crack of a dawn on a very sunny day on my walk along the Maroochydore boulevard on the Sunshine Coast (just to drop a name,) when I saw a man wearing a T-shirt with a slogan which read:

“Sarcasm is another thing I give for free!”

And I wondered why the heck that man would start the day with such a slogan. Who in the world really needs sarcasm? Even more importantly, what would having to be sarcastic do for his attitude?

Upon my return to our luxury unit on the Sunshine Coast (just to drop the name again and make you envious), I consulted my Thesaurus and found that some of the antonyms for sarcasm are:

Approval, praise and kindness.

I wondered to myself how much better that T-shirt would’ve been as an early morning starter had it read:

“Praise is another thing I give for free!”

“Ask me for approval!”

“Kindness is my middle name!”

As you know “fantastic” is a word I always use to describe my attitude and, hopefully, I infect other people with it too.

It all comes about because I’m a long time believer in the late Zig Ziegler’s mantra of “It’s your attitude not your aptitude that determines your altitude!”

I reckon quite simply how you start your day determines how the day goes for you.

Sarcasm? Bah! Humbug!

P.S. It wasn’t really a luxury unit, but it was great. And we were only there for a week to see my granddaughter play in the Queensland under 14 women’s AFL competition.

P.P.S. Of no real relevance but here’s my new tee shirt.
