I’ve been doing some serious research when my mates, our dogs and me go out for a walk in the mornings.

When we see people coming towards us who look hesitant or concerned about us or our dogs, I put a great big smile on my face and say “Hello!”. Even if their faces had been dark and thunderous before I flashed the smile, they find it impossible to be grumpy when they automatically smile back.

There’s an old saying that it takes 43 muscles to frown and only 10 to smile, but I reckon foregoing the facial exercise, for the great results a smile achieves, it’s well worth while.
