Recently, I had a look at what I’ve said about myself in promotional terms and it was terrible. All blah, blah, blah.

It was always something along the lines of, “Winston Marsh is known as the marketing guru and has delivered down-to-earth, practical presentations for almost every type of business large and small, blah, blah, blah. His articles in business journals around the world have enjoyed huge readership, and his audio and video programs have helped many businesses in achieving quite stunning results, blah, blah, blah. Winston is the inaugural recipient of the Golden Mike Award, and has been honored with a certified speaking professional designation, the highest bestowed by…” and on and on, all about me.

Makes you want to vomit, doesn’t it? I just had to change what I say about me and my skills.

So, I thought, “Why am I saying this?” Because you see, it’s got to be directed at, and answer the question for, the reader, “What’s in this for me?” I gave it some heavy thought. Oh yes, dear reader, really heavy thought, because I want to try and get it right. I want to use whatever I say about me to generate me business.
