Thanks for asking!

It’s those damned website enquiry forms. You know, the ones that come up when you press the “contact” tab at a website when you’re looking for more information.

You have to enter all your details… and your mother’s maiden name plus your knicker size.

Then you press “send” and away it goes, disappearing into the ethernet, generally triggering some form of automatic acknowledgment, but never actually occasioning a response to your question.

This is the cornerstone of great business and too often is overlooked in the pursuit of a profitable business.

You wait and wait but never get a response.

It’s obvious that businesses that use that system don’t have anyone whose job it is to actually check such inbound web generated missives. Okay, okay, some do but the majority don’t!

So why use that form of handling inbound enquiries?

I much prefer using an email enquiry form… when you press the contact link it brings up a pre- addressed email into which you enter the information you want. When you press “send” it gallops off to someone’s inbox, almost certainly to be seen by a human, from whom there’s a fair chance of a response.

You should never ever miss responding to an enquiry… it’s that important first step in converting shoppers into spenders!
