I promise not to make mention of any aspect of my son’s recent passing (other than to say thank you for the many expressions of sympathy) but to share these beautiful words I read at the beginning of the funeral.
He is gone
You can shed tears that he is gone
Or you can smile because he has lived
You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back
Or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see him
Or you can be full of the love that you shared
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday
You can remember him and only that he is gone
Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back
Or you can do what he would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
They were written by David Harkins of Silloth, Cumbria, UK. I share it because of its very positive note and the number of requests I have had for a copy.
Thank you for sharing.
Exceptionally sorry for your loss. We wish you a long life.
Rosemary and Michael.
Thanks Rosemary and Michael, much appreciated.
This sounds bang-on, Winno. I’d expect nothing less from one so positive as you. Meanwhile, you feature greatly in my mind at this time. Kindest, P.
Thanks Paul, much appreciated.
Dear Winston,
Sorry to hear the news about your son. Thank you for sharing those beautiful words.
Warmly
John Jago
Thanks John, much appreciated.
Wonderful words. Thanks for sharing, Winston.
Thanks Jurek!
Omar Khayyam wrote the words;
“Ah Love! could thou and I with fate conspire
To grasp this sorry scheme of things entire,
Would not we shatter it to bits – and then
Re-mould it nearer to the hearts desire!'”
Thanks Bruce!
