Sometimes I visit a website and find that it takes ages to download and, in this world where even instant coffee is too slow and I stand in front of our microwave urging it on, I get frustrated and go looking for another faster loading site to give me the information I want.

And I am not alone! Statistics bandied around the web world point to nearly half of web users expecting a website to load in two seconds or less. The two-to-three second mark is the turning point where bounce rates skyrocket – in fact, it seems that about half your visitors will wait no more than three seconds before abandoning a site.

So, if your website doesn’t load quickly enough, you’ll probably pay the price in lost conversions and upset customers.

Check your loading speed from a few other devices and also ask a couple of friends to tell you whether your website is slow to load. Search the web for sites that will test it for you… this is just one of them.

If your website is slow to load what can you do about it? Preferably you should talk to your techie person but there are lots of answers to that question as my googling shows.

Don’t muck about! Do it now!
