Many of you would have known or met my great mate in the speaking industry, Doug Malouf. Doug passed away recently after a relatively short illness but he had regrettably been taken off the stage some years before because of Parkinson’s Disease. This affected his speaking ability… a sad affliction for one who had enjoyed sharing his ideas and inspiration with people around Australia.
You may remember him from the many joint seminars he and I presented where we seemed to have as much fun as our audiences due to Doug’s alarming habit of disappearing to watch the morning movie minutes before he was due to speak, leaving me flummoxed, floundering and wondering what to say next.
Doug’s contribution to the speaking industry, the foundation and evolvement of the industry association and to many, many of us is huge through his recordings, books, live appearances and one-on-ones. He will be long remembered.
Thank you for letting us know Winston. Many of us will have many happy memories – Les
Certainly was a great and so generous a person. I think you pair may have been the first professional speakers I saw on stage – from one of his invites to me “come along and I’ll show you how it is done”. He basically directed me in to my career and I am pretty sure there would not be OAM or CSP beside my name had it not been for that great guys advice.
And Winno, a big thank you to you as well, not only for your PSA contributions, but since that first day day I saw you spoke “where there is one bear there are more bears” has been by my side and keeping me on track.
