The other day I was sent off to the Emergency Department of a local hospital for a battery of tests.
Happily the tests proved negative and I was assured that I was not about to depart this mortal coil. As I was being released, the Doctor who had looked after me handed me my discharge papers to pass onto my wonderful GP.
Of course I had to have a look at what it said and the report opened like this…
“Absolutely delightful gentleman…”
I couldn’t believe what my eyes were seeing! I blinked and re-read that line and sure enough it was
“Absolutely delightful gentleman…”
You know, in all my life, I have never been called delightful, let alone gentleman.
I savoured the words, repeating them slowly and taking in the fact that they referred to me.
Wow! They sounded and felt good! I absolutely glowed. And that glow lasted all day, and the next. And the next…
It made me feel great!
But what it has really done has shown me the power of a genuine and unexpected compliment. If it does that for me, what will it do for others?
I’m going to give out more of them… unexpected, genuine compliments.
I know it will make the recipient feel great and, somehow, I reckon that in giving them it’ll make me feel great too!
Try a compliment today!
What a wonderful, generous and upbeat man you are Winno!!! Running a sub 3 hour marathon + being a bloody good bloke assures you of a departure date (in the distant future) of your own choosing. So the tests weren’t necessary. But worth it for the glow that came with the results. Keep riding legend!
Thanks Stu and its been such a long time since we talked! Good to know that you are surviving the Sydney lock down! Will give you a call in the NTDF
