Almost every Saturday morning I pick up a copy of our biggest selling metro newspaper and, a few pages in, shake my weary, old head in disbelief.
There, once again, at the bottom of an early right hand news page (for which advertisers pay a premium) is a quarter page horizontal advert.
And who is the advertiser?
A school!
Not, as you might expect, a prestigious, high fee, richly endowed private school but a government secondary college.
Now, I have no quarrel with any school advertising its wares to attract students but I do quarrel with the way this school goes about it.
I have no way of knowing, so I may be wrong, but frankly I fear the school is wasting its money which could be put to better use to achieve far greater results.
In my next article I’ll tell you why!
