A little while ago, The Age reported on the huge success of a woman who had built a very profitable online cosmetic company by including a Tim Tam with every order shipped.

“Our goal”, she was quoted as saying, “is to create a digital experience that exceeds the in-store experience. This includes providing any snacks you might buy when out at the shops…”

And that reminded me of the mighty bulge… a bulge in an envelope (providing that it does not exude white powder or tick!) always gets the envelope opened quicker than the rest of the mail.

Why?

Curiosity is compelling… the recipient just has to find out what is causing that bulge!

Try it for yourself when you want to stand out from boring, easily deleted emails or lookalike snail mail envelopes (although snail mail gets through to recipients better than spammy emails nowadays in my experience!).

My clients have successfully used everything from headache pills and erasers, to coins, condiments, and chocolates (the latter not being advisable if hot weather is forecast).

Then match the message to the inclusion… “Take the headaches out of budgeting!” to “A sweet way to overcome ink jams!”
