We were wandering around the lovely Victorian tourist town of Bright (actually more like forcing our way through hordes of lycra-clad bike riders getting ready to tackle some of the state’s steepest climbs) when the park public conveniences caught my eye.
Now this is a frequent occurrence for ageing men like me, it being one of four rules to which men turning 50 are introduced… never go past a toilet.
But that’s by-the-by.
Apart from the conveniences themselves, it was the announcement on the building itself “This facility was built in 2003 by R Williams, builder for the Alpine Shire” that really attracted my attention.
Hey, how proud was that man? How great was he to let people know? And, maybe, how much business might the sign have generated him when people saw the quality of his constructional capabilities?
He was proud to tell people he was good. I reckon it pays to boast, just a little.
