On a number of occasions I’ve volunteered various parts of my brain and body for testing in research work being done by a nearby university and I’m really happy to reveal the decline in various parts of me in the interests of science.
However, they’re not very good at showing appreciation really just treating me as another student or lowly worker.
Sure, they give me a parking spot but I’ve got to wander in to reception to register instead of emailing me a pre-approval.
And I then have to enter my name and details into an iPad thingy.
Yep, they do offer me of tea or 43 beans in a foam cup.
And I do have a seat in reception where I can sit and wait until I am escorted in for testing.
But none of it makes me feel special, like I’m helping do some good for someone or some project.
I think I may get a shopping voucher to say thanks but I’m not doing it for reward.
I’d just like them to make me feel special, even if only a teensy weensy bit.
