Why do they make exciting promises that are never what they seem? I got a wonderful email from a supplier of pet food and medicines for my dogs and cat.
It made me feel good when the subject line read:
LAST CHANCE to use your $30 gift!
And I read on and got even more excited as the copy heightened the promise:
And here’s a reiteration of that great promise. Golly this is great I thought coz those darn pets cost me a few bob and it’s nice to save a bit:
Hi Winston,
Enjoy $30 OFF*
Only to feel terribly disappointed and let down when the body copy went on to hit me with this knockout blow:
When you spend $150 or more.
Oops! I’ve been conned! Bugger them, I don’t want that reward!
Why can’t they give me a genuine no strings offer and reward for my business? Oh well, I’ll go elsewhere!
