I’m amazed how many people I see trying to sell their prospects by sitting in front of their computer and doing it digitally using the whole gamut of social media and email options now available to them. That’s often going to result in lots of lost time and effort meaning frustration, tears and very few sales.

Now, I’m not saying that that the digital approach doesn’t have a place in the armoury… well planned and executed campaigns can work really well and give great results. My clients use it very effectively.

I’m just saying there’s still a place for the good, old-fashioned GOYA* approach. Really, the best way to get sales is to get out and meet people. Get face-to-face, belly to belly!

I reckon that Frank Betger’s advice, given in his wonderful book “How I raised myself from failure to success through selling” is still as powerful these days as when he wrote it way back when. He simply said, ”Show me a person who earnestly and enthusiastically tells their story every day to four people (of the right type) and I’ll show you a very successful salesperson.” My addition in parenthesis.

This is the classic that has helped thousands of people understand the nuts and bolts of basic business. If you haven't heard it, this is one you must get now.
How to turn your business into a Money Making Machine

So instead of trying to email somebody and elicit their interest in your product, why not give them a call and then wander down and see them. Or just go knock on the door with a croissant and say “love to have a cup of tea or coffee with you.” Or take them for a coffee at a cafe and have a chat.

You know it’s amazing what happens when you do something for them. They might just do something for you.

Stop trying to do all of your selling business electronically!

Put your face in front of their face and and hit them with some of your great personality. You’ll be amazed by the results
