The other day I was having my regular three-weekly haircut when Bill, my hairdresser, did what he usually does after the cut is finished.

He held up the mirror so I could see the back of my head and the cut he’d done.

“You don’t have to do that,” I said, “You do it every visit.”

“Yes,” he said, “And I always will. I want to remind you of the great job I’ve done.”

“And I’m proud of my work too, and showing you what I’ve done is one way of reminding you of that too.”

Then the thought struck me… how often do we tell people or remind them of the great job we’ve done? And if you don’t let them know how the heck will they ever know?

So give some thought to how you can have a simple, non-boastful way to hold a mirror up to the great work you do.

(And I know that I’m not a great hairdresser’s model and I needed I shave, but I’m just trying to make a point. Forgive the photo!)
