My long time mate, Max Hitchins, who is the man behind the annual publication of “Pick The Winner of the Melbourne Cup” each year has noticed the increased interest in taking Powerball and Tattslotto numbers.

So, he decided to do some research and here is his report:

“My Dad (a country Bookmaker in Moree NSW) used to say:
“When some people gamble it’s off goes their heads and on goes a pumpkin.” and… “If you are going to gamble, son, you need try to put the odds on your side.”

  • Most importantly you need to ‘Do your research‘.
  • Most people go into a Newsagency and either have a Quick Play ticket or selected numbers as their lucky numbers.
  • There are several ways to increase your odds of winning a prize:
    • Consider a ‘Power Hit‘ entry as it guarantees that your ticket will match the extra ball
    • A ‘Systems Entry‘ option gives you the chance to pick anywhere from 8-20 general numbers
  • Current Hot numbers supplied by Powerball: 17, 7, 9, 3, 28, 2, 19
  • Cold numbers supplied by Powerball: 31, 33, 34, 15, 1, 26, 8

#18 Powerball Draw paid out:

  • Division 1: 0
  • Division 2: 7 Main Numbers $134,969
  • Division 3: 6 Main Numbers, 1 Powerball $10,487
  • Division 4: 6 Main Numbers. $488.00
  • Division 5: 5 Main Numbers, 1 Powerball $175.35
  • Division 6: 4 Main Numbers, 1 Powerball $75.85
  • Division 7: 5 Main Numbers. $44.90
  • Division 8: 3 Main Numbers, 1 Powerball $20.20
  • Division 9: 2 Main Numbers $12.10

Two things I suggest you consider:

  1. Install the “The Lott” App on your phone, as I consider it is one of the best Apps I have ever seen on the Internet.
  2. Buy some ‘The Lottery Company‘ shares (ASX: TLC). 🙂 🙂 🙂

So, whilst there’s lots of appeal in investing a small amount in attempting to win the huge billion dollar jackpots on offer here and around the world you’ve probably got more chance of winning the local pub meat tray raffle then you have in these mighty big ones.

Still, if you don’t get addicted and you only splurge a few bob, I guess there’s no harm in it.
