Adopt a can-do attitude
Many people thrive on explaining why you can’t do things and, if you value their judgement, not being able to do it becomes so. A terrific example of this is when you go to your boss to explain the great idea you have and they greet your enthusiasm by pointing out all the reasons you can’t do it. Because they are the boss it’s almost an instruction and therefore you can’t do it.
The alternative approach, which really works, is when you go to your boss with a great idea and they simply say, “Make it happen”. Then all the reasons you may not have been able to do it just become problems to solve on the way.
