I can remember once going with the man to see the CEO of a finance company who had rejected a loan application for a development he had in mind. Of course the decision had been made in the normal course of events by someone down in the pecking order so we were going to beard the lion and attack at the top. Unwittingly, the CEO thought that the meeting would just be a brief formal affair to confirm the rejection.
That’s not what the man thought!
Very persuasively he said to the CEO, “I can appreciate where you are coming from but just let me share what I have in mind” and with enormous enthusiasm he began to talk about the project.

About 10 minutes later, both of them were on their knees with the plans spread all over the floor bubbling with enthusiasm as they discussed the project.
The decision was reversed and the loan was granted. Nothing had changed except the enthusiasm. It’s mighty powerful stuff, in fact it’s infectious.
