Great phrase, isn’t it, and I believe its roots lie in the army requirement to keep one’s boots spotlessly shiny and spit helped in the polishing process. Shiny shoes are great for morale, the army believes.

Well, I just want to report that it works for me.

The other day I dragged out a pair of rather expensive shoes I had avoided wearing because I’d got them covered in mud and couldn’t face the job of cleaning them. But, that day, something in my mind clicked and I decided to give those shoes a bit of spit and polish. And I really socked it to those shoes!

They came up beautifully, shiny and gleaming like new. And, when I put them on I felt great and felt great all day!

Even worked some magic too!

So the lesson of the day is if you want to work magic… polish your shoes. And if you don’t have a leather pair to polish, buy a pair. It’ll work magic for you. Trust me!
